The establishment of the initial Village Child Committee (VCC) in Goa at Arambol on September 22, 2006, was significantly influenced by the pivotal role played by the Child Rights Group (CRG). In 2003, Goa introduced a distinctive legislation known as the Goa Children's Act (GCA) with the primary aim of safeguarding the rights of children. Section 13 of this act specifically mandates the creation of a Village Child Committee (VCC) in every village and four or more City Child Committees (CCP) in each town or city. These committees have the responsibility of ensuring that the best interests of children are consistently prioritised within their respective communities.
